Incremental Model


Incremental Model is the system model approach which key aim is to identify risk in iteration and take remedies to remove risk in iteration.Incremental model also use iterative steps to complete the system software.This approach is used in SDLC.

Advantage of Incremental model:-


1)This model is cheap.


2)It is flexible.


3)Error in later stage....No tension......not working from starting stage.


4)Simple to implement a system.


Disadvantages of Incremental Model:-


1)Sometimes it is time consuming.


2)Problem of overlapping.


3)Difficulties of redundancy(repetition of works/data).

Spiral Model


Spiral Model is the approach which use iterative steps to complete the system software.This model was developed by Boehm in 1988.This model has a spiral shaped.

Spiral Model is the combination of waterfall model and prototyping.And also it is the extension of Incremental approach.This approach is used in SDLC.

In stage/phase 1:-We perform Preliminary investigation,prototyping.


In stage 2:-We perform Risk analysis,system requirement and prototyping.


In stage 3:-We perform Risk analysis,design,planing.


In stage 4:-We perform coding,prototype,testing and implementation.

Rapid Application Development


Rapid Application Development or RAD is a system model methodology which is used to developed system software.RAD provide quick development of system.In RAD,we also used JAD technique(Joint Application Development).In JAD  all customer,manager,system analyst are participate in the same work of development and design

Advantages of RAD model:-

1)RAD is high speed model.

2)Provide good support to system and its phases/stages.

3)Used in small systems.

4)Reusablity of system.

5)It used case tools.

Waterfall Model


The Waterfall Model is the model which provide a software life cycle(from preliminary investigation to implement phase).Waterfall model has different-2 variants.This model is used in SDLC(Structured System Analysis and Design).

Working of Waterfall Model:-



The first phase is preliminary investigation,after investigation->Analysis the whole system->Then we design the system->After designing,construction phase will start->Then System testing and finally we implement the system.

Phases/stages of waterfall model:-

1)Preliminary investigation
2)Design
3)Coding
4)testing
5)Maintenance 
6)Implementation.

Advantages/features of Waterfall Models:-

1)It has the simple software development cycle.

2)It is the oldest approach of software development.

3)This approach is used in large system.

4)Water fall model is also called as traditional approach.

5)Easy to understand.

6)Used in banking system(example).

Disadvantages/drawbacks/limitations of Waterfall model:-

1)If error occurred in later stage then rework from starting stage.

2)This model is rigid.

Joint Application Development


Joint Application Development or JAD is a system development methodology.In Joint Application Development all customer,manager,system analyst are participate in the same work of development and design.

Advantages and Disadvantages of JAD:-

1)All members are work together.

2)Very fast in execution.

3)Less time to complete project.

4)Improve quality of product.

5)Sometime it will be costly.

6)Need lots of efforts from all the sides.

Prototyping Model


Prototyping Model is the working model of processed system.Its a mini model of the system.Prototype model is a system development methodology.This concept is used in SDLC(Structured System Analysis and design).

Prototype is incomplete model(in terms of final) but a complete sample model.Prototype model not include validation,security,process etc.The main need of development of prototype models is "suppose we create a high cost system/software but it was fail due to some issue......then what?".

Advantages of Prototyping System:-

1)It identify user and system requirement.

2)Customer can give feedback.

3)User can participate in system development.

Disadvantages of Prototyping System:-

1)Time consuming.

2)Sometime it will be costly.
